If you are interested in adopting or meeting one of the pets featured on this site, please be sure to submit an application. We will do a basic screening and contact you as soon as possible to make further arrangements. Please note the more complete your form application the faster we will be able to process it. We reserve the right to refuse any application. Please understand that Alcovy Pet Rescue is volunteer based and it may be several days before we are able to respond.

The first step to adopt is filling out an application. Your application has to be processed, which includes calling your personal references and your vet references. We also will have to schedule a home visit to see your home and where the dog will be living. This is not a quick process. Please be patient. We want to assure that our dogs are placed in appropriate homes and will never return to life on the streets or death row ever again. You will be expected to sign a contract that covers what we expect from you as a responsible pet caretaker. We only want what is best for our rescues and the best match for everyone involved. These animals have been through enough already and should be loved and cared for the rest of their lives. However, if an animal adopted from us begins to present problems we will ALWAYS take them back into the rescue.

There is an adoption fee which helps to cover the expenses our rescue incurs while providing excellent vet care to all animals that come into our care. Our dogs that are adopted out are up to date on all their vaccinations, spayed or neutered, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. Our dogs are also microchipped. Some animals come to us as strays from high kill shelters or from owners who did not properly care for them or vet them. Those that are heartworm positive are treated by our veterinarians prior to being available for adoption.
