In Memoriam Sometimes, certain dogs come into our lives for a reason and Frazier was no exception. We got Frazier, a Jack Russell Terrier from Henry County Animal Control on June 25,2008. He was dirty, scared and scratched up from his previous owner's dog. They took care of his wounds. We got Frazier vaccinated and he tested positive for heartworms. Frazier went to our vet to be treated for heartworms and became ill before our vet could treat him. Frazier diagnosed with possible kennel cough/upper respiratory/pneumonia. Frazier had a chest X-Ray, fluids and intravenous antibiotics. He seemed to be getting better and then he began panting. Then, the vet told us that Frazier had a blood clot that killed him from the advanced stage of heartworms on July 2,2008. It is quite possible since Frazier was such a young dog that he had never been on heartworm prevention. Little Frazier's body was too weak and he would have never survived his heartworm treatment. Please take the time and read and understand the vicious cycle of heartworms and its prevention. We still have 2 other dogs that have tested positive for heartworms. Please keep them in your prayers and donate towards their care in memory of Frazier. We will never forget you Frazier ! |
